Lately, I feel like everyone’s only goal has become overnight success. Whether it’s achieving personal goals, career milestones, or even building relationships, most of us want to see results as soon as possible.

This mindset comes with problems.

The constant pursuit of instant results robbs us of the richness and the sense of fulfillment that comes from savoring the journey.

To be honest, I did this too. I caught myself so many times thinking I failed my goal because I did not see any results in the short term. I did not care about the skills I learned throught my goal. I did not care the small victories that one day may add up to build my goal.

When I started belittling myself for the accomplishments that would have made me so happy in the early days, I realized I needed to change my mindset.

Here’s how I changed my mindset from focusing on the results to enjoying the journey.

Results are not my goals. Journey steps are.

Instead of solely focusing on the results, I started setting smaller goals about the processes and actions required to achieve my end goal. Breaking down larger objectives into smaller, manageable tasks.
